Sale of MC38 “Assassin”
Owning a McConaghy yacht is like becoming a part of a community. The Strong Owners association manage the class and run their own one design class regattas. The boats are fantastic to sail and the racing is very close.
Follow the action on the class Facebook Page and regattas are hosted all over Sydney (Middle Harbour, CYCA, Royal Sydney Squadron, RPAYC).
Our team, with great expertise in racing yachts and very close to boat owners, scored the listing of Assassin, a 2014 MC38, which presented very well due to its great level of maintenance, brand new EC-6 rigging and good inventory of North 3Di sails and more.
Her owner, Clare Crawford, explains the reasons she has chosen Vicsail to sell “Assassin”:
“Choosing Vicsail to sell our MC38 was a very simple decision for us. We knew David Sampson through sailing with him, and had absolutely no doubt as to his integrity, ability, and geniality to work with. Also, we knew that he understood and loved racing boats, and was well linked in to the networks of people who sail them. We were, however, pleasantly surprised to find that everyone we dealt with at Vicsail shared these characteristics. Selling the boat was a difficult decision, and we were extremely grateful for the support the team offered with sorting out the technical and practical details we needed to cover, as well as completely taking on the marketing. It was a great relief to know that all that was in good hands, without having to be too closely involved ourselves.
Communications were regular throughout the sales process. Even as a global pandemic set in and much of the sailing world ground to a halt. The Vicsail team kept working on our behalf, and secured a buyer who will race her as she deserves to be raced. The whole experience was far, far, easier (and much faster) than we expected in the circumstances. We would not hesitate to recommend Vicsail to anyone seeking to buy or sell a boat. A team who you can really trust – both to deliver in a practical sense, and to be as honest, careful, and easy to deal with as you could possibly wish. They are people who love sailing and get satisfaction from connecting boats with new owners who will enjoy them! What more could you want?”.
The buyers of MC38 “Assassin”
And in regard to the new owner Peter Harburg, they have known about Vicsail for a long time. They are in the marine industry and friends with David Sampson, our Sales Director. Sampson was responsible to make this sale very easy and smooth for both sides. Working to meet the interests of both vendor and buyer and finding an agreement that was favourable to everyone.
Since the new owners purchased MC38 “Assassin”, the boat received a “face-lift”. She has new graphics to create another “Blackjack” and is now sailing successfully in Brisbane.
Here are some words from the new owners:
“Vicsail is professional and easy to deal with and Everything went very smoothly throughout the purchase process. We would recommend Vicsail to anyone 100% without any hesitations. And the MC 38 “Black Jack” is Wednesday/training boat for us. We have sailed a bit and love the yacht and plan to get new North Sails for her soon.”
