She is home!

The new Swan 48 “Cooloola” arrived into Port Kembla after a 6 week voyage from the Nautor’s Swan factory, in Finland. A team of experts have made it happen with their very best work and her owners were very appreciative of it. “I’m a very happy owner. It was a difficult time and so pleased that everything went like clockwork”, he mentioned on one of his emails to everyone involved.

The package was in perfect condition and was road transported to Woolwich Dock in Sydney where the commissioning team set to work on fitting the keel, rudder’s and mast.

We where able to put the boat together in 5 days from truck arriving to launch which was pretty amazing. The factory had prepared everything really well for an off-site commissioning.

Once in the water, we spent a day completing the mast set up. Then, fitting the sails and we also did the engine test with Volvo. All the boats spend a couple of days in the factory “pool” where the Swan technicians check all the systems prior to completing the build.

Our first day of sailing the Swan 48 was spectacular!

A light westerly breeze filled in down Sydney’s iconic harbour. Therefore, we were able to feel the Swan 48’s grace through the water.

Cooloola has been fitted with the 3m draft keel (794kg Lighter displacement to standard). Also, a carbon mast, and, in under 10knots of breeze, she powered up and surprised us all with her liveliness.

The steering system is superb and the deck layout make short handed sailing a dream.
